A SlingPlayer for iPhone on its 3G Network

9 February 2010 No Comment

AT&T in these days said : it will now allow the SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone application, a television-viewing program, to operate on its high-speed 3G network, reversing an earlier ban after federal regulators began looking into the wireless industry over discriminatory practices against certain types of Internet traffic.

The Dallas, Texas-based carrier has refused to approve SlingPlayer Mobile, which broadcasts bandwidth-intensive TV programming to smartphones over the Web, would slow down its network.

But the company changed its mind about bandwidth-intensive apps after the Federal Communications Commission began a wide-ranging investigating into anticompetitive behavior and industry practices in the telecom sector, including Apple’s decision to block a Google calling program last year.

In October, AT&T started allowing voice software that ran on its 3G network.
