Apple honcho Steve Jobs hit the stage Wednesday and took the wraps off his newest cutting-edge gizmo – the iPad(such a bad name).
As Apple CEO Steve Jobs said, the iPad is positioned in a brand new category of devices between the notebook and the smartphone. But for some commentators, it is more like a hybrid of the two.
There is, without a doubt, much disappointment surrounding the iPad. Bloggers curb-stomped it for its shortcomings:

No multitasking
No Adobe Flash (yet)
No camera or iChat capabilities
No HDMI port
4:3 aspect ratio
Still dependent on AT&T’s 3G service

Looks like Nokia is taking on Apple with the N900. The spec sheet of N900 looks more beefy than iPhone 3GS for sure. Lets compare the two monsters just based on the specs.

Apple iPhone 3GS Reviewed
It would be easy to dismiss the Apple iPhone 3GS as an inconsequential hardware upgrade. But to do so would underestimate how much, collectively, the phone’s new features augment the iPhone experience. With the iPhone 3GS, Apple solidifies its leadership position in a crowded smartphone landscape.

Lackluster sales and Apple’s iPhone generally don’t go in the same sentence, but if reports online are accurate, the (official) iPhone isn’t doing too well in China. Apparently TradeTang.com, the only site aside from China Unicom where customers can purchase official iPhone handsets, sold a total of 5 iPhones in the period of 2 weeks. Some folks attribute this the lack of Wi-Fi on the official iPhone in China, not to mention the fact that the iPhone can be purchased on the gray market in Hong Kong for cheaper.

Wireless Dynamics has announced iCarte, an iPhone add-on that adds NFC and RFID capabilities (read and write) to the iPhone. This could be used in many ways, like contact-less micro-payments, public transportation tickets and information gathering (ads, promos…). NFC is very popular in countries like Japan. In France, the subway system is equipped with NFC to replace paper tickets. Last summer, there were rumors that Apple would integrate NFC in the next iPhone, and if that was the case, Wireless Dynamic might be able to build on the momentum with iCarte. This …

Sprint was one of the first carriers to join the Open Handset Alliance when it was founded in November 2007 to promote Google Android. However, unlike T-Mobile, which released the T-Mobile G1 and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, the carrier wasn’t so quick to offer an Android handset to its customers because it simply didn’t think the operating system was “good enough”; that is, until now.
Starting on October 11, Sprint will offer its first Android device, the HTC Hero, and it looks like the carrier’s waiting game might have paid off. …
